The primary focus of Jason's 75 minute
presentation is his new outdoor
adventure novel ‘Ballad of the
Northland’ and his 30+ years spent as a
professional Iditarod musher....
During the course of the lecture, Jason contrasts the story
of his own life & career with that of the novel, the story
of a young boy living a tough existence in the wild bush
country of interior Alaska, who comes of age under the
harshest conditions imaginable…
Jason walks students through the boy's life and draws
parallels between his own upbringing when he, too,
grew up in Alaska, on the muddy banks of the Yentna
River without access to a formal education, and how
ultimately he struggled to better himself by becoming
a world class athlete, businessman, and now author.
This motivational presentation constantly returns to
the themes of perseverance, leadership, and
entrepreneurship, where the overriding message is
"Never quit following your dreams!"
