The first “hometown” review of Jason’s novel Ballad of the Northland
LINCOLN — For seven weeks Jason Barron sat in a shed from 8 a.m. to 7 at night plinking
away at his PC laptop. The shed usually houses dog food and gear for the 100 or so sled
dogs he and his wife Harmony raise. But from April to June, during freezing temperatures and
warmer days, Jason sat in a squeaky office chair and wrote a novel called “Ballad of the
Northland.”

Trip to Minnesota a success!
We left Montana on January 23rd with the kids & a truck bed loaded with books, mushing
gear and Harm’s lead dog “Snuffy”, and stayed on the road for a total of 15 days. The first half
of the trip was spent attending the opening ceremonies of the John Beargrease Marathon,
and the second half giving mushing & writing presentations throughout the southern portion of
the state--as much fun as the trip was, it was awfully nice to finally make it home!
